How you gonna' win, if you ain’t right within?

Dear PDC Community:

As I was sitting in my study, I pondered on the lyrics of the Fugees songwriter, Lauryn Hill “how you gonna’ win, if you ain’t right within? These words speak so much volume as it relates to the world we live in and enjoy each day. I am very much concerned about the mental health of our Bahamian Citizenry as the odds are against us during these unprecedented times. So how will you win, if you ain’t right within? How do we overcome the fear and anxiety given the cards which we are being dealt? How do we get up each day, and hit the pavement with a clear and sound mind? I encourage you to dig up that old diary which you wrote your new year goals in and use it as a reminder that It is still very much possible. Yes, everything appears to be uncertain. Yes, there will be days when we feel unmotivated and lack the energy needed to achieve these goals. Keep pushing, the end is near and there is definitely some light at the end of the tunnel- but it starts with having a positive mindset.

I am a strong advocate for investing in yourself, before you invest in any business venture, real estate or relationships. The external would be nonexistent if the internal is not adequately prepared. I read an article last week that LeBron James reportedly invests a minimum of 1.5 million dollars on his body each year with various diets, workout plans, trainers, etc. This is arguably one of the highest personal investments I’ve ever seen from a professional athlete, and the dividends are surely paying off for him!

I would like to charge you all with the task of working on thy internal self, albeit the circumstances. Here are a few tips that can help you to get right within, so you can win:

  1. Invest in yourself first, fuel that brain power with constructive literature which will help you grow

  2. Stay away from negative people, remember misery loves company

  3. Start your day with some form of positivity, prayers and daily affirmations

  4. Remain positive, and try not to panic

  5. Seek professional help, should you need it to cope with the pressures of life

We hope you’ve enjoyed our blog posts, thank you so much for being apart of our PDC Community!

Until next week Tuesday, Take Care.

Yours Sincerely,
Peter D. Cartwright
